BMI? Who needs it? Waist to Hip Ratio is my new measurement

I've been obsessed with getting my BMI down to a healthy range.  Unfortunately for me, that means I need to lose 30lbs.  Then I heard about the waist to hip ratio as the indicator of health.

Waist to hip ratio is the ratio of the circumference of the waist to that of the hips.  Take your waist and divide by your hips and there ya go!

From Wikipedia:
The WHR has been used as an indicator or measure of the health of a person, and the risk of developing serious health conditions. Research shows that people with "apple-shaped" bodies (with more weight around the waist) face more health risks than those with "pear-shaped" bodies who carry more weight around the hips.

Good news for me is that my waist to hip ratio isn't that bad! I still need a little work, but inches come off me faster than lbs.  This reassures me that I'm healthy.  I may be overweight, but dammit I eat healthy and exercise!
