Food Photos

Panera bread was so easy to turn down that day.  Especially because I had worked my ass off at boot camp that morning!
Things I like to eat while dieting.  Kashi oatmeal, orange tea with orange blossom honey, sweet potatoes, salad, water and Max Muscle protein drink mix.

Dieting while on vacation

It's really hard for me to diet while on vacation. ESP if you are driving and visiting family. The family part makes me want to drink and the driving is full of fast food and last minute poor food choices.

This morning I was proud of myself and exercised. We were visiting family that live in a retirement community in FL. Retirement communities are weird, but they have excellent workout facilities.

To start my workout, I got dressed with my bathing suit on and sports bra on top. I ran a little over 1/2 mile to the weight room. Did several sets of arms and crunches. Then I had my 2nd wardrobe change into my bathing suit and swam 10 full laps in the Olympic sized pool. Then, my last wardrobe change was out of my bathing suit and back into my sports bra and clothes I ran there in. Then I walked back with my wet towel and bathing suit in hand. Total of about 500 calories burned.

This sounds weird, but I feel I look my best when I'm wearing my workout clothes and have been sweating a lot.

Pretty Sweet pool right? How could you NOT take advantage of it?

Boot camp Beat Down

Boot Camp has kicked my ass this week.  Saturday I did great.  Fantastic actually.  Didn't stop once during the run as I said.  Monday I did even better shaving off time on my mile.  I can tell I'm improving on the running.  Not great, but improvement is still better than regression right?

We've done a TON of ab and weight work outs, which leads me to today...

I was so sore from Monday that I could barely run this morning.  Then we had to go inside and do more arms and ab excercises.

Burpees are the worst. Especially when you are sore from other exercises.

I'm done for the week! Friday we go to Florida again to visit family.  I'm hoping I can get my butt up at least twice while we are there and walk/swim/run.

New Accomplishments

I've had a few accomplishments in the past week I'm pretty proud of.  #1 is the fact I didn't gain 1 pound on vacation, which has NEVER happened and #2 is that during our run in boot camp this morning, I didn't stop once! Usually I gain weight on vacation, but this time was different.  I went on several walks on the beach and even ran one morning.  I was also very conscious about what I was eating.  I did have a few treats, but hey it was my vacation after all.

I missed most of boot camp this week due to vacation, so today I decided to suck it up and go back.  While everyone else was doing "speed week", I was doing my try not to die day.  I'm most certainly the slowest runner in the class, but it's alright with me if I can just keep going without stopping.  I usually have to stop to catch my breath, but after reading the advice of Runs for Cookies, I've been able to run.  I've just slowed down a ton and have been trying to find MY pace and MY breath, which is not the same as everyone else right now, but with time, it will be.

That's my drunk beach face.  Oh and if you haven't tried it, go buy Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 2010.  It's my favorite.

Today's Workout

Running just isn't getting any easier for me.  It's my least favorite part of boot camp, so thankfully we do it at the beginning and get it over with.

My favorite workouts this week:
Anything with weights

My least favorite workout this week:
Running & Burpees (below is an example of a burpee)

Bootcamp is brutal

I started back bootcamp yesterday morning.  Getting up at 4:55am takes a little part of me that I didn't know I had.  When you pay for something and are going to lose out on your money if you don't go, you go.  I have 4 total days this week of bootcamp and with just completing 2 days, I can barely walk.  I literally took the elevator at work from one floor to the floor above it.  I never do that. I hurt so bad.

If it hurts, then why do you do it you may ask? Losing weight isn't easy and sometimes you have to bite the bullet and feel the burn.  Bootcamp is a great motivator because it's filled with women who are supportive and motivating.  When you can't run, someone is there to coach you along and give you that push that you need.  Working out with 10+ other girls is way better than working out by yourself.

Here's to two more days this week! I have a total of 4 sessions before I go to the beach.  What good can that do? Well, not a ton, but it will keep me on track and I'm really just curious to see just how much I can lose before we leave.
